♥ The man and I don’t go too crazy with the whole Valentine’s Day celebration and I’m racking my brain, but I don’t remember us ever going out to a restaurant on Valentine’s Day either.  We usually get takeouts for the family and celebrate at home.

26♥♥♥ As I was composing this post in my head, I opened the cupboard to take out a coffee mug, and as I looked at them, I saw this one with its border of little hearts and thought well why not – its Valentine’s Day after all. Yes, so its a cheesy and commercialised day and yes its a money making racket – but really, why not just enjoy it all a little?  Life’s short!

♥ Schatz bought me a gorgeous handbag this past weekend.  I’d found a website and sent him an image and since the lady operates from an open market on a Saturday morning, after dropping Jarod off at his cookery class, we raced off on the bike to Cedar Square Market in Fourways.  I was surprised to learn that she is the wife of the dentist we used to see.  He since sold the practise to our current dentist and is now working in Rustenburg, which is about 2.5 hours away.  What a lovely lady and what a lovely bag I got.

♥♥♥ My gorgeous bag comes all the way from India and is made from goats leather.  Kirthi told me that it will darken and soften in time and with use and I’m so looking forward to how much more beautiful its going to be as it develops more character, or as we like to say in South Africa ‘houding’ – an Afrikaans word that means attitude when translated, but is more descriptive and used in many other ways and often to describe something that gets better with age.

♥ My son Jarod gave me a gorgeous bottle of spring water – sounds crazy, but I so loved the lacy design on the bottle and told him about it when we were in Woolworths and he went ahead and bought it and spoilt me with it.  I’m thinking a long stemmed silk rose in it and placed on my desk, or on the sideboard.

♥♥♥ I also bought a cute bottle of pink champagne with wording on it and we’ll enjoy that with our cream cheese, roasted pineapple and habanero sauce with rice crackers this evening.  I may even be naughty and let the boys have a small glass.

♥ I gave the boys (big boy included) a little something sweet this morning as well.  “I chews you” and “I’m a sucker for you” candy.

♥♥♥I do so enjoy the internet and how easy it makes gift giving at times.  With my girls so far away, you really need to plan well in advance if you want to send a gift, but with postage and import duties costs, it often makes the price ridiculously high.  I chose to send them each a little ‘mobile’ gift card that they will get via their cellphones and can take into their Target store and spend for themselves … don’t you love ease and convenience?  I sure do – but then maybe I’m just lazy .. te he te he.

♥♥♥ I hope you got a little spoiled today – and if nobody did it for you – I’m giving you personal permission to spoil yourself a little – you know you deserve it.  ♥♥♥

We don’t really “do” Valentines day. Tonight we are babysitting…but tomorrow night we will dance the night away at a Valentines Ball benefit for the Mission.

Valentine’s Day doesn’t have a traditon here in Germany but I know it has a different meaning and importance in other countries.

I love the beautiful bottle your son gave you. I’d just put one single flower in and I am sure it will look very special.

Love the handbag ~ having seen it in ‘person’! We were in Woolworths yesterday and that bottle of water also caught my eye … I think I will go back and get one for myself.

I spoiled my boys and Mom with some sweet treats and when I got home on Friday evening I got two necklaces from Mom and Connor. My hunny unfortunately does not subscribe to these days at all ~ sad for me! but I guess I should be used to it after 30 years.
