Graeme joined the Distingished Gentlemans Ride, an international event for Classics, café racers, bobbers, trackers, customs, modern classics, classic scooters & undefinable 2/3 wheeled machines. With 258 rides across 57 countries they were aiming to raise money for helping to find a cure for Prostate Cancer. Sadly though, his bike broke down in Marlboro which saw me scrambling to go and pick him up. With the bike safely on the bakkie, we headed off to meet up with the riders. It seemed a little chaotic as they stopped along the way and we ended up meeting them in the Maboneng Precint.
My first visit to Maboneng was back in 2012 when the company I was working for took the secretaries there for lunch. We then visited Arts on Main, which has grown so much. I didn’t get much time to check out the stores as the ride arrived just as we finished our lunch. I’m amazed by how much the area has grown and if I were into the ‘inner city’ vibe and about twenty years younger and childless, I would look at purchasing a flat in the area as its growing at a phenomenal rate.
