We will open the book.
Its pages are blank.
We are going to put words on them ourselves.
The book is called Opportunity and its first chapter
is New Year’s Day.

I ran across this on Blue Collar Catwalk and it appeals to me greatly, so here’s my 12 in 2012 list of things I’m looking forward to.  So, here goes nothing … (this list is subject to change without notice and is in no particular order of importance) but this could well morph into a 12 for 2012 in different areas of my life.
  1. Figure out how the heck to host my blog on my site!  (Anyone out there willing to send me ‘an idiots’ guide on how to host your blogger blog on your own domain – I’d really appreciate it) and get a personalised template and graphics done.
  2. Complete the photography course I’ve signed up for.
  3. Organise regular family outings and budget for them.
  4. Curb my spending on clothing.
  5. Spend less time in front of the tv and either start scrapbooking again or get rid of all the stuff I own – hard call.
  6. Get my hiney in gear and do some physical activity which is not limited to a daily walk – it’s past due now.
  7. Try at least three new recipes a month – schedule them.
  8. Get back into the habit of checking on my diary/scheduling important events –  Flylady here I come.
  9. Take the kids on a trip in December to someplace we’ve never been.
  10. Read – I have so many books on my list and I don’t think I managed to finish more than three this year.
  11. Curb the spending on magazines …

Its a few hours to go here in my little part of Africa to 2012 and already a neighbour has started letting off fireworks … G-man has just given the dogs some Rescue drops and I hope it helps keep our girls calm.  Our little one gets really frantic.

So as 2011 is slipping away ….

May you get a clean bill of health from your dentist, your cardiologist, your gastro-enterologist, your urologist, your proctologist, your podiatrist, your psychiatrist, your plumber and the I.R.S.

May your hair, your teeth, your face-left, your abs and your stocks not fall; and may your blood pressure, your triglycerides, your cholesterol, your white blood count and your mortgage interest not rise.
May New Year’s eve find you seated around the table, together with your beloved family and cherishes friends.  May you find the food better, the environment quieter, the cost much cheaper, and the pleasure more fulfilling than anything else you mighty orginarily do that night.

May what you see in the mirror delight you, and what others see in you delight them.  May someone love you enough to forgive your faults, be blind to your blemishes, and tell the world about your virtues.

May the telemarketers wait to make their sales calls until you finish dinner, may the commercials on TV not be lounder than the program you have been watching, and may your check book and your budget balance – and include generous amount for charity.

May you remember to say “I love you” at least once a day to your spouse, your child, your parent, your siblings; but not to your secretary, your nurse, your masseuse, your hairdress or your tennis instructor.

Any may we live in a world at peace and with the awareness of God’s love in every sunset, every flower’s unfolding petals, every baby’s smile, every lovers kiss, and every wonderful, astonishing miraculous beat of your heart.
